I am setting up a printing system with a series of sensors that I need to connect to a dedicated PC, running XP, so that when there is a fault, (i.e. "paper out" or "lead edge not detected"), the printing system will stop and signal with an audio fault through the PC at which point an operator can perform whatever is required then restart the system. I will have between 4 and 8 sensors if that helps. I am looking at PCIe's right now, any thoughts or suggestions?
