So many people are into modding their PCs, or at least were back in the day. But have you ever upgraded your laptop beyond adding some ram? Is that even a thing? Why don't PC companies like Alienware that target gamer-types sell laptops specifically designed to be easily upgradable?

I don't even upgrade my desktop anymore. I spec it how I want, and by the time it no long meets my needs, the whole thing is ready to be replaced. I never upgraded a laptop because back in the day, they weren't easy to take apart. Maybe these days they're more plug and play.

My macbook certainly isn't!

As far as I know, other than memory the only laptop you can easily upgrade is the Framework Laptop 16.

I just checked that out. That's really cool. I didn't know anything like that existed. Like I said, I was expecting something like that to come from Alienware or the like.

The cool thing is you can even swap out ports.

I've replaced the batteries in a couple of laptops, but that's more maintenance rather than upgrade.

I have put a bigger HD in one way back, when laptop HDs were tiny compared to desktop.
