I'm using an Elitegroup AM2 (C51GM-M) motherboard with an AMD Athlon 64 processor with 1 stick of 512 Samsung DDR2 RAM.

I've tried to do a barebone test and booting the computer with all parts connected. I've switched my RAM into both slots, multiple times to no avail. In both cases my power light won't go on. I'm using a 450W power source.

This has begun to tweak a nerve out of frustration. If anybody can offer any advice whatsoever, I would be eternally grateful.

Sounds like the PSU is a dud. Try with another PSU, or dig out a PSU tester and give that a go (they cost about US$25).

I highly doubt it beause the PSU is practically new, but I'll take your advice. At this point, I'm ready to try just about anything.
