I have a DVD/CD device (manufacturer Sony, but it is an OEM device and so Sony won't give me tech support). It reads DVDs fine, but it has suddenly stopped being able to read CD's...in fact, it does not even see them in there.

I've been able to play DVD movies on my computer, but can no longer play music CD's, run CD programs, or even put in a blank CD to burn it, because it does not recognize that there is a CD on the tray.

It worked fine the last time I used it for a CD, which was a few weeks ago.

I ran device manager, which says the device is working properly.

I can't figure out how to troubleshoot this issue.

CD/DVD devices have 2 sets of lenses. One for DVDs and one for CDs. It may just be that your CD lens/circuitry went dead on you, or it is simply dirty. You can always use lens brush CD. Preferably, one that has brushes in the inner circle of the CD (unlike Phillips CD lens cleaner that needs to be read first, then run the 14th track).
