Try TrueDownloader
I visit that, and I found this statement there "TrueDownloader Open source download accelerator / manager written in Visual Basic 6 for Windows. Supports HTTP and FTP downloads. MultiSegmented download, ZIP file preview, low CPU usage." If you used it before then you can tell me that either it is right or wrong.

Or, you could give it a go and find out for yourself? Should be easy enough to uninstall if it doesn't work as advertised.. unless it's a straight up virus :P
