Dell Dimension 4600
Very odd when I plug Mp3s into the USB., sometimes It recognizes it and sometime not..There are two ports its very inconsistant.
Is there anything I can do or what might be wrong? I dont think its the cables going to devices...USB "stick" type devices appear to be better???

Yes, a faulty or unstable USB Host controller driver can cause the ports to act weird, I only saw a machine with same problem few weeks ago, try removing the USB ccontrollers and then restart for it to detect again.
