I will say no as they are two totally different devices

I'll have to agree. Why would you want to plug in your phne cable into your ethernet slot anyway?

Because my friend has a very old laptop that does not have an ethernet jack or wireless card slots.

Sorry. You'll either need to get an ethernet card installed, or use your phone line to dial in to the internet.

must be a really old laptop if it doesn't have a pcmcia slot .

Yeah it is it has windows 95 on it.
