Got a brand new computter and I have been trying to debunk the preinstalled crap, as well as upgrade the MS office 2003 to ms office pro 2003.

Now i keep getting missing or corrupted file messages for many different things. particularly, cursors, and themes.

Also the defect and repair scan will not complete. The windows uopdates icon in startup tray is always yellow and telling me there are updates and when i go to add remove i notice there are tons of duplicate updates installed. also for a brand new computer...sure does seem slow.

here are details

i am about to the point of putting in recovery disk and reinstalling OS and then getting some professional counsel on how to get rid of what i dont want or need and configuring this properly. If anyone has any advice please share.

What could help me if I know what computer you have?

I suggest to reinstall the windows xp, because those updates, could have done nasty things.

In other way...
Themes? don't use any- block them
Cursors- download new ones.
Startup tray ? don't know what that is for you (system tray?)

Just uninstall the crap. Then run some type of registers cleaner software.

that is right reinstall xp then go to toshiba to download drivers
