Hi, I'm running Windows XP and I get this message about every 5 minutes or so.

It only seems to interrupt AOL instant messenger because I don't have any problems surfing the web.

I have updated my computer to all the latest Windows patches and I've tried unplugging the cord and such to no avail.

Try this:

  1. Close all browser windows
  2. Click START
  3. Click on Run
  4. Type in "cmd" without the quotes
  5. Command prompt will open
  6. Type the following in order
    1. ipconfig
    2. ipconfig/release
    3. ipconfig/renew
  7. Close command prompt (ALT+F4)
  8. Try loading several webpages at the same time while connected to AIM

If that doesn't work, try this:

  1. Shut down your computer
  2. Unplug your computer, after turning the power switch to off on the back of your computer
  3. Unplug your Ethernet/USB cable that's going to your computer
  4. Unplug your highspeed modem
  5. Wait 30secs - 3minutes
  6. Reconnect your Ethernet/USB cable to your computer
  7. Plug your computer back in
  8. Turn the power switch on the back of your computer back to the on position
  9. Plug your highspeed modem back in
  10. Wait for your modem to reset itself
  11. Startup your computer

If that still doesn't work contact your ISP and have them send you a new modem.

I know that this happens with Time Warner Cable's Road Runner Service. I've had to get several new modems from them due to the same problem.
