From going back to this...I have new information I just noticed..

well i just noticed that in the setup of my x-micro that there is options for Gateway, bridge and wireless ISP. So if I want to go from modem to a dlink di-524 to the x-micro set as wireless isp (turn off dhcp) all should be fine right? You see I have two computers direct to dlink modem in garage...and 100 foot of cat cable to house with x-micro designated as a wirelss access point. My wireless laptop is in house and I like to go outdoors and into garage with it at times. So trying to get this to work properly.

So I assume setup dlink as normal connect x-micro set as wireless isp set as a static ip and make sure dhcp is off. and plug the cable into one of the ports and NOT the WAN. all should work I think unless I DO have to change something in the Dlink and possible the LAPTOP?
