I didn't quite understand your instructions. TDSSkiller found 14 threats. Out to the right of all of them it says "skip", but I can change that. What do you want me to do?
Hi Family !
I have an Acer Aspire 5315-2940, Windows Vista, 32 bit.
I had a virus/trogan and I believe I got rid of it using Super Anti Spyware, Spybot, and even Malwarebytes. I went to run Malwarebytes one last time to make sure the computer was clean and the computer BLUE SCREENED. I ran other virus removing programs and everything was fine. I can go online and surf normaly. I can do anything I want to on the laptop except run Malwarebytes.
I uninstalled Malwarebytes and downloaded a clean install from Filehippo.com. I installed it and tried to run it but I got the BSOD again.
On the blue screen it says:
Kernal_data_inpage_error
stop: 0x0000007a ( 0xC0216DD4
ATAPORT.SYS-ADDRESS 85B75A9A BASE AT
85B66000, DATESTAMP 49E01EEE
Can anyone shed some light as to why all of a sudden I can't get Malwarebyes to run?
Any and all help will be greatly appreciated !
When building a gaming desktop computer, what is the absolute BEST thermal paste to use to help keep the proccessor cool. And are there facts to back it up ?
Resetting I E has seemed to do the trick. Thanks to everyone that has replied and helped me !
Reganstar, I went to Internet Options, Advanced, but I didn't see anything about "Use software rendering instead of GPU rendering"
Thanks for all the replys !!! I will try these one at a time to see which one will possibly solve my problem. I just reset Internet Explorer to the default settings. I will run my computer, off and on today, and see if that helps.
Also, I know back some time ago, my computer kep asking me about "add-ons" and accelerators and I didn't know what I was doing so I disabled most of that stuff. I wonder if that has anything to do with my problems. I also know that trying to play videos isn't a smooth as I'd like, like Youtube videos.
I have a Dell Dimension 3000, 2GB RAM, and Windows XP, SP3, updated and Avast Antivirus.
Here lately, when I'm on site that I go to for news such as Yahoo, MSN, TMZ, and I close a page, sometimes after I close a page, it reopens in another tab and sometimes it opens another page of Internet explorer. There are no pop ups of advertisements, no porn, it just reopens the page I just closed. It will open pages that I have closed in 3 or more tabs, which overloads and freezes up my computer. I ran a scan with Eset antivirus and it came up clean. I also ran a scan with MalwareBytes and it was clean.
Anyone with help on soving this will be greatly appreciated ! The computer runs fine, starts fine and shuts down fine, besides the Internet problem. I use Internet Explorer 8.
Well, it will take me a couple weeks to get another touchpad because I'm off work because of surgery. I guess I can finish this when I get the part in.
I tried the drivers and that didnt work and I also tried a system restore and that didn't work. grrrrr! After looking at the ribbon cable on the touch pad it looks like it may have been pinched upon assembly but would that stop the keyboard from working also ?
If one of them went bad, could that cause them both to be bad even though they have thier own cables ?
The RAM didnt effect the laptop in any way and the computer booted perfect and ran perfect, just no keyboard or touchpad. I'm lost. After hooking up the USB mouse and keyboard, I searched the laptop to see if the drivers were ok and if there were any signs that there were problems with the computer and there were none. So now what, start replacing parts ?
Yep, USB keyboard and USB mouse both work. I'm still confused at how both devices just went bad by putting in RAM ???
I've already checked, rechecked, and refitted about 8 times.
Hey all !
I have a Dell Inspiron, mini 10 laptop with Windows XP, and a Gig of RAM, updated to SP3.
One day I went to updrade the RAM in the laptop from 1GB, to 2GB. Should be simple.....NOT !
Ya have to take the motherboard out to do this. GRRRR ! I took out the m-board, put in a 2GB stick and put it all back together. When I started up the laptop, eveything worked great except the touchpad and the keyboard. No response at all from them.Took it back apart to make sure I put it together right, and I had. Put it back together again and got the same results. I decided that maybe the RAM was bad so I got another 2GB stick, took the laptop apart and put in a different stick. I ended up with the same results. Touchpad and keyboard.....dead. I thought I'd put the original 1GB stick back in and see if that was it. NOPE ! Same result. Is there a magic switch somewhere that I don't know about ? Is there a secret combination of buttons to push that turn the touchpad and keyboard off ? I read on a thread that someone suggested to push the FN and F7 or F9 buttons. That did nothing either.
They are hooked up right. Ya can not get them mixed up. Anyone run into this before ?
Anyone have any more thoughts on this issue ? If not, I will try the suggestion to uninstall and then reinstall Service Pack 3.
Someone suggested for me to uninstall and then reinstall Service Pack 3. What are your thoughts on that ?
How do I find out that info ? The wireless signal does that same thing. Would we need to find out info on that also ?
Oh, forgot to say that in the LAN properties, I unchecked QoS Packet Scheduler and also AEGIS Protocol (IEEE 802.1x)v3.2.0.3, like you said to.
verify that the Enable NetBios over TCP/IP option is selected.,
wasn't selected when I got in there. I did all that ya said and I still get the same results. Any more sugestions ? And thank you for all you've done so far !
Toshiba Satellite laptop, Windows XP.
I had the Windows XP Antivirus 2012 virus/trogan. I have completly removed it but I can't get the laptop to go on line. It says Local Area connection 2 Speed 100MBPS, Acquiring network address. It can't seem to acquire an address. So far I have ran some comands......ipconfig /release, ipconfig /renew, netsh firewall reset, netsh int ip reset resetlog.txt, netsh winsock reset catalog
, ipconfig /flushdns,
I stopped DHCP Client service and then restarted DHCP Client service, uninstalled and reinstalled the LAN driver, rebooted rebooted rebooted, gritted my teeth and called this thing all kinds of names !
I even tried to get a wireless signal and I get the same results.
I've unplugged the router for 2 minutes and plugged it back in. I've tried to go into SAFE MODE with networking and that didn't work either.
When I type in " ipconfig /all...... heres what I get:
host name.............toshiba-user
Primary DNS Suffix......blank
Node type..............NO
IP routing enabled.....NO
Wins Proxy Enabled.....NO
Physical address.......00-11-F5-E9-E2-64
Dhcp enabled.........yes

Subet Mask...........0.0.0.0
Default gateway.........blank
DHACP Server...........192.168.5.1
DNS Servers.............192.168.1.254
NetBios over Tcpip...........Disabled
Anyone know how I can fix this thing ? Any and all help is greatly appreciated !
I sent the video card back and got a new one. It done the same thing. I believe the motherboard is bad. I'm ending this thread and just gonna use the computer as a backup. Thanks a million for everyones help !!!!!!
ummm, got my own clothes, thanks anyway
Just for an experiment, I tried another video card in the computer. Its a little bit bigger, ( NVidia GeForce8400GS). I removed all the old drivers, cleaned with CCleaner, and made sure that the PCIExpress video card was selected in the BIOS.
Something didn't go right with this card either. After the driver was loaded and the computer rebooted, I clicked on the NVidia icon in the lower right corner and a popup stated that "Nvidia display settings not available. You are not currently using a display attached to an Nvidia GPU".In the DEVICE MANAGER, there is a yellow exclamation mark on the NVidia listing. When I open that listing it says under the DEVICE STATUS, " Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems.(code 43).
I'm begining to think that the PCIEXPRESS slot is bad. What are your thoughts ?
Well, that didn't work either.
I did as you said. Same results. Sorry. After the reboot, I was able to see just enough of the screen to click on the Nvidia icon in the bottom right corner. When I did, it said something like ...." Nvidia display settings not available".
I think theres a different driver from the Nvidia site that I could try. The driver I used today was from the Galaxy site.
Suggestions ?
Should I try a different monitor ?
I've done everything you said to do and I still get the same results. I even put in a bigger power suppy. It had a 450W and I installed a 600W. I have tried 2 different drivers. I removed the old drivers with Driver Sweeper.
I don't know what to do. Any ideas ?
Hi all !
I have a Compaq Presario SR5610F desktop computer, Windows 7 and 5GB RAM.
I bought a video card for the computer. Its a Galaxy GeForce 210 ( 1024MB/MO DDR2 HDMI+DVI+VGA)
I put the card in the computer and fired it up. The computer automaticaly found and installed a driver called " STANDARD VGA GRAPHICS ADAPTER". The monitor screen looked normal. I did as the instructions said and I put the driver disc, that came with the card, in the computer to install the video cards driver. When I got done doing that I rebooted the computer.
The monitor screen looked worse than safe-mode on Windows XP. It's terrible and I can barely read anything on the screen. So I rebooted and went into SAFEMODE with networking and went to the NVIDIA website to get a better driver. I used thier "search" methode so thier website could locate the right driver for me. It gave me a driver and I downloaded it. I went into DEVICE MANAGER and uninstalled the driver that I had already installed. I installed the new driver, rebooted and ended up with another terrible looking monitor screen.
The 1rst driver "STANDARD VGA GRAPHICS ADAPTER" seemed to work the best but I don't think that's what I really needed.
I'm new at video cards so I can use all the advice you can offer.
After trying another LCD screen, I have come to the conclusion that the plug, where ya plug the LCD screen into, had went bad. Very unusual but that's the only answer. Thanks to all who worked with me on this adventure !
I have it taken apart. To get to where the LCD plugs into the motherboard, all I have to do is pop the plate the is above the keyboard, off. That plate just has the on/off button and a couple other buttons on it. After I pop that plate off I can plug and unplug the LCD to the motherboard. I have plugged in 2 different LCD's so far. Now, there was no 100% guarentee that both LCD's worked, so I am ordering a whole LCD setup and will plug that in and see if that might be it. I will keep ya updated.
Humor is good........how about a solution, LOL
The second one I bought had all it's own stuff. It simply has one plug that plugs into the motherboard.
I'm guessing it's the board. I get the same results when I try different LCD'S. I will just use the laptop with an external monitor.
Thanks for everyones help. !!!!
I've taken the 2nd laptop apart that I bought for parts. I have the motherboard on my desk and I don't see anything as far as a "video card" goes. The place where the LCD screen plugs in is just a small plugin on the motherboard. Is there anyway I can send you a pic of it ?
Well when I plug in an external monitor, I get a visual on the screen. It works fine that way. I just don't get anything but a white glow on the LCD screen on the laptop. I only see where the screen plugs into the motherboard on the laptop. I don't see a graphics card ?
Hi all
I have a Presario C500, Windows XP Home, 1GB RAM.
I was givin this laptop because the screen is white and glows.
I figured the screen broke so I bought another C500, to swap the screen out. I hooked up the 2nd screen and I still get a white glow. I hear the Windows system boot up but all I get is the glow.
I hooked up an external monitor and it works fine.
Do you think my motherboard is bad ? How do I test it ?
Any and all help will be greatly appreciated !
Didn't hear from anyone so I sold the laptop.
I have a Sony Vaio, VGN-CS320J, laptop with Vista installed.
The computer runs fine BUT, the lower half of the taskbar has a pink and green , horizonal, active bar ontop of it. That makes it hard to read whats on the taskbar.
Whats strange is that the pinkish/greenish bar is active. It blinks pinkish for a second and a half, then greenish for a second and a half, then it stops. Then it does it over and over again and doesn't stop the whole time the laptops on.
Sounds wierd, I know.
Anyone have any idea what this horizonal bar is ?
I accidently uninstalled Combofix before I wrote down the name of that toolbar and I'm really sorry for that ! I think my son must have got it from facebook. I'm a bit shocked that Malwarebytes and adware didn't find it.
I really appreciate all your help and hope one day I can help you !
Found the problem.
With the help of a computer guru friend of mine, we ran ComboFix and that showed what other spyware/antivirus programs wouldn't.
Before I could write down what the problem was, I uninstalled ComboFix and that erased the log that had the info I needed to report here. Sorry !
It was a toolbar that had went undetected that aparently was a virus.
Now I can go to Google on Internet Explorer and FireFox.
A big thanks to all who helped me war thru this problem !!!!!
flushed dns
deleted cookies
ran Adware.
Nothing has helped yet.
I'm running Spybot Search and Destroy now. Will keep ya up to date.
I downloaded FireFox and tried to go on the google page and here is my result.
Bad Request (Invalid Hostname)
I went on my desktop and it went right to google. This laptop, which I'm typing this on, runs perfect but it just won't go to google.com
I have to get some sleep for work. I will download firefox tomorrow and let ya know the results . Thank you both for working we me !
more bad news. When I clicked on the "google chrome" link above, I get the same results as if I'm trying to go on google.com
