Sounds to me like you have a Virus thats hijacking your IE.. there is some help out there!.. if you cannot access IE - try to reinstall it!.. if you find a CD or Program - but I sense that if a virus (Trojan Horse!) out there - I feel you may have to re-Fdisk, Re-Format- re-Install OS on your drive!.. if you have a Backup - try to restore from there!.. if not take out the Restore Features for Restore Points in and on Control Panel.. Make sure you backup all of your data to another drive.. my suggestion would be to piggy back another HHD to your first (insure you take out the jumper) - and backup there!.. if your data is non-critical - then redo the whole drive.. I know its a bear!.. I might be wrong - but without IE - you will not be able to get anywheres!.. and from what you say - there is a Trojan Horse out there that is doing this.. I use AVG from www.grisoft.com - they have a trial version (30 days) and well worth its salt.. it discovered worms and virus - that even McAfee and Norton saw but could not take out!.. Connect or find a copy of HiJackthis - somewheres and put on a floppy!.. run it - see whats in the Registry!.. I suspect your Registry is corrupted!.. Also - once you are up and running - download a FREE copy of FIREFOX! …

Hey!.. my first suggestion is to contact Comcast! - they might have cutoff your LAN connection (the landlords - that is!). Usually that is the indicator - if things work fine for awhile (assuming they still had a paid up connection) and then once its been disco'd - they (the Telco - ie.. Comcast) - will disco the direct exchange (DXC) Connection to the line!.. therefore - no more DSL - no more Dialup - unless you get a FREE dialup like IPWest or some other that offers a free trial like PeoplePC or others (depending on your locality). Avoid AOL at all cost.. I have had to use them - but its costing my bank account dearly!.. even for their so call FREE 1175 hrs of FREE ACCESS!.. they will charge your account even before the time is up!....So go that route first - and if that doesn't work - I am almost sure Comcast is the culprit here!...
Try to take out the Linksys Card and reset your computer with it out!.. and then re-install in a different PCI slot - and restart again!.. reinstall the Firmware (you should have a CD or the Landlord should have one!) if not Download the drivers at Drivers.com (join - its FREE!).. and insure you upgrade all OS - XP should have SP1 as a minimum - SP2 should be loaded!.. and all other Upgrades!.. Let me know what you get!.. email: jcpose@lplend.com, jwarrior47@yahoo.com or

Hey!.. its been awhile since I last posted - I am now working with a Residential, Commercial Mortgage Lender.. http://www.lincolnprimelending.samsbiz.com

and in the process of redesigning the website: Look it up and tell me what you think!.. (well maybe not!..).. Nah!.. its ok!.. I can take it!.. (no I can't!)..

Anyways.. problem is that I have my computer confiscated by the internet police - they think I was involved in some kind of credit card abuse - Sorry fellows - I got involved in some stupid scheme from Nigeria!.. I should have known better!..

But now I got my system back - they cleared me of all wrongdoing - so far!.. and now my Wireless doesn't work!..

I reformatted the drive that had all the incriminating data (what data?).. and re-installed XP (first I installed 2000) - thing working fine - but the Wireless just doesn't want to connect to any networks - I see two "Default" Non-WEP Enabled networks and another one - I connect to all of them - and get almost no access to the Internet!..

What do I need to setup an Access Point (my own!) without having to pay an ISP?.. is it feasible?.. I don't have any Radios (except my jazz station!.LOL!)..

I know I am riding on someone's network - and I apologize - but when your out of work and broke - its the only way you can get your mails...

Sorry guys!.. …

Hello! everyone!.. I am probably the oldest poster on this forum!. Besides a few others that I belong to!. I am herein joining in an attempt to find out why my darn CD-ROM and my DVD-RW all of a sudden disappeared from my XP Explorer. BIOS sees it fine. When I put it in to redo or reinstall Windows it works fine - I have not reinstalled yet! but about too unless I can fix this!. I tried uninstalling the drivers for the SAMSUNG CD-ROM 152G C400 and even got the right driver from DriverGuide.com. No go!. I have the same problem with by DVD-RW which it used to see as a Generic DVD-RW 8X before. Now unable to see either!. I thought there was a virus - but I ran chkdsk and my AVG program and found nothing. Malware from Microsoft did not find any other intrusive spybot or other programs. I even unplugged the drives from the main board and rebooted - XP sees it and installs new hardware - but all I get is a Yellow ! Mark - which indicates its seen but not working properly!. Is anyone encountering this problem?. It just started right after a Security D/L from Microsoft on SP2 just the other day!. I have found no KB info on MS to indicate a problem - when I review the Event Viewer - I do see a problem with registry with a code 19 - whatever that is!. It doesn't tell me …
