mestertim, try and run a search on the site for the svchost error. I used to have the same problem but found this site and searched for the problem in here... fortunately, thanks to everyone here, I found the solution to the win2k problem. :)

I was just wondering, I keep on seeing other posts telling them to either modify hosts/lmhosts/*.sam files. What are these files for, I know they're for networking for windows, but what exactly are they? I', just very curious..

I need help, I have 2 8-port hubs and 12 computers. Can I connect the two hubs together to make it function as 1? If yes, how do I do it? Do I need special hardware or software to do it? I'd very appreciate all the help you can give me. Thanks,

hi all, im a newbie admin here at work... i'm planning to setup a win2003 server. primarily a file server + a domain server... i have no idea on what to do, can anybody here help me or at least give me some pointers on how to start it... is win2003 server good? have you any other alternative, i want to stay on the windows platform. my boss doesn't have any idea on linux OS, and she doesnt want me using it as the OS for the server... as of what i understand, OS doesn't matter much, as long as you know how to handle what you're using there won't be any problem on security... please correct me if i'm wrong...

you can try using a bnc connector instead of the rg45's. you can make it a linear network, making you share the internet connection.

My friend has a camcorder with rca output jacks including s-video, I was wondering if there is some software that allows you to plug the camera into the computer and record on the computer what comes out of the camera.

I do realize that computers don't have rca inputs which is why my second question is: What piece of hardware at radioshack or somewhere would I have to get to convert the rca's to say a usb plug?

Or if someone could just educate me on if this is even possible that would be nice. :)

Yes this is possible, Im sure of that. I used to have a camcorder as a webcam. But that was way back in 1997. I had a pixelview video card with a tv tuner and an s-video connector. I just cant remember the software that i used. maybe i'll try and get back to you on this, i'll try and look it up. but you can try Camtasia. It's a software that i use with my yahoo messenger.

ok now i need to know what kind to get

i have a dell dimension 4600what other information do i need to know in order to buy?

Of what I know about the Dell Dimension 4600, it supports PC2700 (333-MHz) or PC3200 (400-MHz) DDR SDRAM (non-ECC). Just get either of the two types and it should work.

Maybe you should just download it from Symantec's website. It's safer to get there than from anywhere else.
