I basically followed a guide ont this website to perform a repai install.. sorry but im quite new to all this so you'll have to bear with me but yeah i do have msn ( all be it on a mac at the mo :( )
talking live would be a lot easier
thanks
can you try hitting the pause/break key when the blue screen flashes
most times it will stop until you press another key
could give you some time to jot down some info from the screen
Hey
I tried that.. it flashes to quicly for me to repsond ive tried several times i tried repreadtly pressing and also holding it but that doesnt work it still reboots when it hits the blue screen and i dont get enough tie to see the text :( so dont know what else to do really?
Hi, well the problems all started when i i installed my audigy 2 zs sound card, since then ive had all these problems. So ive taken the sound card out. originally windows would load after a few attempts and then start telling me that it had recovered from a serious error! and then it got to the point where it wasnt loading and the file mentioned previously was missing, so i tried to correct that as explained. Since my last post a friend advised me to do a repair install of windows xp using the original disc (assuring me that i would not loose anything???) . unfortunately this did not work and i am still greeted with more or less the same as before although it looks as though it gets slightly further into the loading process, the grey bar completes, but then i see a quick flash of a blue screen and some text (but not quick enough to read the text) before the computer just restarts to the screen teling me that windows could not start properly, again none of the options (including safe mode) will allow me to start windows. I appreciate that this problem is a tricky one and i would much appreciate some help as its nbearly been two weeks pc less :(
Thanks
Bill
no it just loads all the files and then freezes with a list of all the files its loaded on the screen! :(
Hey
I posted not so long ago about a problem with windows not being able to start due to the file - vgaoem.fon being missing or corrupt. I managed to find instructions on the microsoft support website(http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=315338) which were aparently to sort this problem out.. i followed the procdedure through exactly, then when i restarted the computer windows is sill failing to start, i get given the options to start normally, start in safe mode or safe mode with command prompt.. or to start with the last known settings that worked. I have tried all of these and none of them load windows. :( it appears to load, as i see the white status bar at the bottom of the screen and it moves across the screen as it would do normally, but then it just freezes with a black screen and the white bar. Im really frustrated because i need to get onto the pc as i havent been able to back up all my files etc. and ironically just before all this happened i ordered an external hard drive to back up on but unfortunately the pc died before i could back up! I would really appreciate any advice on how to get windows back up and running without losing any of my files.. please if u have any ideas reply as ive been PC less for about a week now and its really annoying!!
THANKS any help will be much appreciated!
hey
its windows XP home edition SP2.. i wasnt sure if this was the correct place to post... can u move the post for me?

Bill
HELLLLP! :(

Hi
Thanks for your advice ill have a go at uninstalling/reinstalling and see if this makes any difference!
Thanks
:)
Hi
Yeah your right in assuming that my VCR has a scart output which is used to connect and send the video signal to the television, ive actually managed to succeed in sending the video since i last posted, using a Scart to s-video converter! It has a scart converter on one end which has inputs for an s-video cable and two audio cables which then plug striaght into the capture card and the sound card.
The problem ive now got is trying to get the software i normally use to recognise the feed. I managed to do it in windows movie maker which is nice but id rather be using Adobe premeir pro as this is what im used to using but i cant work out how to capture it, i know this is a change of subject from my original post but if u are familiar with premier pro - or with any opther video editing software i wuld much appreciate your advice because i really dont like windows movie maker!!!
Cheers
Ok maybe one of you fellow mac users can shed some light here! Im desperatley seeking a way of being able to watch TV through my emac.. I know this is easily and cheaply done on the PC using either PCI Tv cards or external ones. However I cant seem to find anything equivalent on the mac..? Ideally id like an external one because i dont fancy takin the emac apart.. but the only ones ive seen are the eye-tv ones whihc are stupidly expensive.. well, in comparison to there PC equivalents anyway!!
maybe somone could present me a solution???
Dude
why r u using a PCI card? surely if u know anything about graphics u'd be using an AGP card??
HI
im tryin to put all of my old VCR videos onto the computer. I have a sony VCR which unfortunately doenst have an S-video port. I actually have two video capture cards in my pc... a Geforce 5600, and a pinnacle media centre 300i.. both of these have S-video.. the thing is im not really too sure which cables i need to connect. Ive been trying with a scart to s-video cable but so far to no avail! the scart cable has scart on one end and an s-video and two audio cables on the other end (left and right).
I was wondering if anyone could shed any light as im finding it really frustrating! :(

Hi
ok.. im using a pinnacle media centre 300i tv card (its supports both analogue and digtal) with an audigy zs sound card... for some reason i cant get any sound when im viewing digital television... the sound works fine when viewing analogue tv but not on didgital.. can anyone shed any light as to why this is as its really frustrating...
well i bought exactly the same thing and i managed to get mine working ok.. although i did have a bit of trouble with the sound to begin with.. other than that it works ok.. maybe its a faulty card as i had no real trouble installing it! shame though because it really is a wicked card!
sorry i couldnt be of more help!
Bill
LOL
as you can probably tell im quite new to this game so bear with me! after the previous problems i had with my speakers, im now having trouble successfully installing the sound card ive bought. Its an audigy 2 zs so not a bad card.. and ive put it into the only avialble PCI slot i have left. the sound appears to be working ok when listening to music but i cant hear any audio when viewing television on my TV card (pinnacle media centre 300i) i didnt have any trouble before installing the new card.
There was an internal audio cable with the TV card which it says to plug into the internal audio output of the soundcard, however im not really too sure what this is... wonder if anyone can shed any light...? and also if possible explain why the sound on DVDs isnt working properly because the card is attched to the DVD drive using the supplied cable... argh!!!!!! i almost wish id never bothered fooling around with all these updates! but i do love decent sounding audio!
If i were you i would get rid of internet explorer... its had its day.. your better off using mozilla firefox! this way u will be less liable to stupid pop ups and browser hijackings, and you will be able to open more than one window! infact better still you can use tab browsing and have multiple pages open on different tabs in the same window so u wont even need to open more than one window!
get it here
Yeah ok thanks, the thing is though i didnt buy them from logitech directly but i will give this a try. Thank you very much for your help
ok guys ive decided it is the speakers that are deffective... DAMN! i went out and bought me a new sb audigy 2 zs and they still sound awful.. plus ive listened to the same track through the PS2 (optical connection) and it still sounds terible... lookes like ill be gettin touch with logitech! thanks for all your all help. belama... how did u go about doin this?
cheers
Bill
Hey
thanks for the advice ill check out tiger direct.. yeah the speakers i have are fairly new ones i had to double check tho to make sure i wasnt gettin them confused...
http://www.logitech.co.uk/index.cfm/products/details/GB/EN,CRID=2177,CONTENTID=9486
here hey are ^^
I only really need a 5.1 card as the speakers are only 5.1 so anything above would be wasted really, but ill probaly check out the more expensive range as i dont mind spending 50-60 i didnt realise that you could get a decent sounding card for thatprice. I take it i will notice the difference with any new sound tho?
How longis the warranty on the speakers? just out of interest incase mine "mysteriously" stop working near the end of the warranty period..lol
thanks for your help
Try driverguide.com and look for the drivers for your sound card.... Also have a look in control panel/device manager and look at the audio devices to see iif winows recognises the problem.. if there is ay problems with your audio devies they will have either little yellow exclamation mark or even a red cirlcle if they are disbaled.. if u double clickon them it will tell you there status.
hopefully this will help
Bill
in addition to my last post.. i was wondering if any one can reccomend a decent sound card and the onboard one im using sucks... i wouldnt mind one with optical output. and as mentioned i have logitech z5000 speakers and feel that they are being wasted with the sound card im am currently using which is the standard Realtek AC97. ideally dont want to spend too uch money but am open to suggestions.,... thanks guys!!
Bill
hi
ive recently purchased a pinnacle mdeia centre 300i for my pc and have installed the card with no hitches... however im now finding that the sound is really distorted when listening to music.. the PCI digital and analogue TV card is attched to the onboard sound card (which sucks and im gettin a new one soon - infact advice on which one would be nice...lol im some what of a noob to audio but i love a decent sounding system).
I thought i had blown my speakers to begin with but then realised that these were logitech z5500 speakers and with 550 watts of output i dont think i could have blown them (also i tried listening to audio through the optical input and it sounded fine) its really frustrating because i love my music and it sounds awful! was wonderin if anyone knows what the answer is.. would be much appreciated!
Cheers
