Re: I prefer VLC and it's in the repos. This isn't Windows so I don't suggest downloading unknown apps from the Internet. Mplayer is good but you have to install MS codecs. VLC will play just about anything. | |

Re: Unfortunately, the easiest way is probably to reinstall Ubuntu. Everything in Ubuntu is integrated with Gnome. Basically you are missing most of the OS now. You could try looking in Synaptic Package Manager for Gnome Desktop Environment under patterns, I think, and try reinstalling Gnome. However, other things might be … | |
Re: I've had that happen with a bad burn too. Try getting a new ISO and burning the CD at 8x or 12x. If you have SATA drive, it might help to turn off AHCI and use IDE mode. | |
