Pick a website for a local store or business. Redesign it. Show that to people you respect. Listen to what they say.

If they say, "uh, no. that is really cheesy," forget about it - unless they are wrong.

Otherwise, find another store or business and do the same thing. Keep doing that until you are really good at it. You will know that happened when one of the people you are showing it to says, "Hey, could you do that for me?"
