Hi I am unable to complete an installation of an Officejet 6000 inkjet printer on a home network Dell 690 workstation running . Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit workstation. The printer had been previously connected to a Windows XP Pro 32 bit OS Dell PC. The HP CD wouldn't install the printer as it is for a 32 bit PC. I downloaded the appropriate software from HP for Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit OS. The installation does not complete it just goes on an on. It reaches 40 per cent. I have tried posting on the HP forum but with …

I still can work on my laptop (HP Pavilion) because I had a window open and I can access all my docs this way, but the background screen is black, there is no 'Start' button, no desktop and the 'right click' does nothing. Totally emptiness, but I still see the pointer on the black screen. If this open window is closed, I won't be able to open anything or work on the computer. Anyone there with a solution?

Have the HP C4700 and the D110. Need an image of the printer alignment page. Don't use printing anymore... just the scanning function. Took them out the empty cartridges recently and now a cannot get back to the scanning function until an alignment page is generated. Do not know if the alignment test is specific to the model. Hoping for a decent quality images for each model.

HP Pavilion DV2700 - Vista Windows OS the backspace does not work and only the g and the h and the ' key on the "a" row work. I have changed the keyboard - brand new - still the same keys do not work. Why? and is there a fix? The problem started after some juice was spilled on the computer. Below is a sampling of the keys that DO work. pushed in sequence across the board. An external USB keyboard does work. 1234567890-= qwertyuiop[]\ gh' zxcvbnm,./

Hello Community, I have recently been experiencing extream speed decrees in my internet and general laptop use. I try to load eg. this website to post this and it took just under a minute to fully load. Sometimes for somereason my laptop mouse will freeze up, it will let me use the mouse buttons but will refuse to move, once this happends I need to wait close to 3 minutes (while leaving it alone), also when I attempt to scroll, instead of scrolling, the mouse just moves in the direction I'm wanting to scroll. I have ran a full virus …

My daughter had problems starting her laptop for about a year. She would press the power key and sometimes it would work and sometimes it wouldn't. Sometimes it would take 10 or more tries before it worked and then it would power on. Other times even after 10 tries she would get nothing, then taking out the battery and starting with the power cord would work. The other day none of those things worked and now the laptop won't start at all! When we press the power button there is no sound and the power light (the lightening bolt) blinks …

I have a Dell Optiplex PC with a legal copy of Windows XP. But the Dell hardware seems to be failing. The problem is that the XP distribution CD I got with the computer is a Dell distribution disk, possibly with files specific to Dell (It says both Dell and Microsoft). If I can't fix the hardware, I need to find a way to transfer my hard drive or the OS and software to another computer. How much different is a Dell Optiplex from a newer HP computer I have (with Linux installed)? I used a standard Microsoft XP installation …

I have had this laptop running windows 7 for about two years and I have been noticing the battery discharges unconsistenly. Sometimes I am solely surfing the internet through out a whole charge and it does last a good hour and a half more or less. Other times, right after disconnecting it drops instantly from 100% to 94%. Then just keeps dropping at a fast pace. Yesterday I noticed it was 100% after disconnecting and in less than five minutes I was down to 64% and in a couple of minutes it jumped back up to 96%. I have tried …

I have a Microsoft Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005 HP desktop PC when I power the computer on I got Vga input: no input signal and the monitor went back to sleep. If you do you think that is a problem with the video card it is attached to the motherboard. I also don't know that much about computers so please try to keep the answer simple.

I'm running Win 7 Pro and my HP ScanJet 5370C is not recognized by Win 7. It has to do with the drivers. HP has not seen fit to provide them for Win 7. So I installed XP Mode and installed the HP Scanjet software under XP and when I launch HP PrecisionScan Pro, I get the following error message, "Sorry, scanner could not be initialized. (Scanner not found.)". When I plug or unplug the scanner USB cable, I do get a sound response from the system. Has anybody out there run into this and solved the problem? I hate …

I was just curious to see if anyone has dealt with HP Procurve switches (preferably 8200zl or similar). If so do you know of any tools to practice configurations? I have found several config examples on HP's website, but they are pretty basic and don't go into too much depth.

Hello everyone, I would like to use HP's system recovery (F11 on boot menu, not the windows application) to revert my laptop to its factory state. The thing is that i have created a disk partition to keep my data which wasn't present by default. Will the recovery delete my partition or will it simply re-install windows on system (C:\) partition? (Laptop model is HP compaq 6730s) Thanks in advance!

Yesterday HP launched a handful of new consumer-class monitors dubbed the “x-Series”. So what’s the news here? Well the screens, ranging from 20 to 23 inches all share some amazing new specs. They are all about an inch thick and they all feature mercury-free light-emitting diode (LED) backlighting. LED backlighting is going to be featured in HP monitors moving forward (including the 25 and 27 inch models that will debut on December 19th). What is nice about LED backlighting is that it can achieve very high contrast ratios, great performance and do it all at nearly half the energy consumption …

![IMG_5690_(Small)](/attachments/small/3/IMG_5690_(Small).JPG "align-left") At a whopping 33 pounds, the Laserjet Pro 400 M425dn is certainly nothing compared to the massive printers you'd see in major offices or computer labs, but comes packed with everything you'd need for your small business or home office. While the printer strangely focuses black & white printing only, it comes backed with a wide variety of other features, including HP's brand new web printing, App system (preloaded with tons of gimmicky goodies,) and of course your usual scanner and fax machine. The M425dn seems to be a lot like a step-up, slightly bigger, 65 lbs cousin, …

Lately, we've been feeling rather sorry for Dell's media relations people - they keep having to put out press releases about how their employer has purchased data storage company 3Par, only to learn later that it hasn't actually happened. Dell first announced its acquisition of 3Par a couple weeks ago, when it made an $18 per share bid for the company. But a week later, HP triggered a frenzied bidding war when it offered $24 a share for the company. The back and forth bids have continued, increasing first to $27 per and now the latest offer from HP is …

My friends hp pavillion dv9930 just died, consequence of the whole hp naughty doings with their pavillion series. He wants me to get a new mobo instead of buying a new computer. I'm confused regarding the part because I find stuff like this on ebay and other websites: "Replacement motherboard for dv9000 series, dv9500, dv9(you name it)." Will then that motherboard work with ANY dv9000's? It confuses me that first they say any 9000 series model and then they list a few specifics. Don't want to order the wrong one and then have to deal with the whole "as is, …

We might all imagine how many reams of paper HP must go through testing their printers before they hit the market, and how they must pass certain tests and get tweaked along the way. If you envision rooms full of printers and the smell of heated toner hitting the paper, you are not alone. At the Boise Idaho HP campus, there is so much more than I could ever have imagined. As the COO of DaniWeb, I was invited out to tour the campus and get a ‘behind-the-scenes’ look at HP’s printer testing campus in order to answer the question: …

I connected the pc to the tv and changed it so that instead of having 2 monitors the image shows up only on the tv! I have a friend laptop, which shortly recovered running without battery by cold treatment in freezer for two hours, but got symptoms back after trying to charge the battery overnight. Now it again tries to start, accesses the DVD drive and lights up some leads, but not by Power switch which does nothing, but by touch quick start panel push. I tried removing and reinserting memory chips and the hard disk. I noticed by trying to boot without memory inserted that booting behaviour did not change. When the laptop was running one evening, it overheated and switched off itself after …

You can tell a lot about a company by the way they treat the employees lowest on its pay scale. Pay cuts and, yes, even layoffs are inevitable in today's economic climate. The decisions are painful, but they're often necessary and unavoidable. They aren't, however, a license to be callous and cold toward the very people who have kept your business running. Computer vendor HP recently announced significant across the board pay cuts for everyone starting at the top down -- and I do mean everyone. All 100,000 employees on the payroll at HP will suffer some sort of reduction …

I am planning to buy a new laptop within a budget of 700 $. I am going to use it for mainly programming purposes so I don't really care for graphic card etc. I am looking for the following features:- i5 processor 200 GB + HD 4GB + RAM I am not really concerned with the other features. Also would these specifications suffice for programming purposes ? Are these specifications too much for my purpose? Would you advise purchasing a Toshiba /Dell/HP laptop? Any advice will be greatly appreciated.

The PC world is an ever changing one and according to trends the All-in-one market is going to show a large growth in the year to come. In addition touch screen devices are steadily gaining in popularity. With the planned Metro Interface of the Windows 8 operating system the touch screen trend doesn’t seem to be slowing any time soon. HP’s TouchSmart Elite 7320 brings these facts together is a powerful and affordable package for your business, and I got to take one for a test drive. ![Touchsmart_box](/attachments/small/3/Touchsmart_box.jpg "align-right") We all know that these machines often lack the customization that …
