Quick, practical options if you must learn or work with FoxPro 2.6 (and want legitimate e‑books or docs).

The standard full reference is Jeb Long’s FoxPro 2.6 for Windows: Developer’s Guide (ISBN 0672305658). Try library catalogues and used-book sellers first (Open Library will show library/edition records and used-seller links; used-book sites commonly have copies). These are the safe, legal routes to get the book or a loaned copy. (openlibrary.org)

If you only need command and function documentation rather than the original disks, the community-maintained Visual FoxPro 9 SP2 Help file (VFPX HelpFile) contains corrected/enhanced help and covers many legacy FoxPro 2.6 commands — it’s a very practical offline CHM reference you can install. Community threads point to this as a good substitute when originals are hard to find. (github.com)

Running the original FoxPro 2.6 installer or program on a modern machine can be the hard part: 64‑bit Windows does not run 16‑bit components, so native install will often fail. The recommended approach is to run a 32‑bit guest OS in a VM (VirtualBox/VMware) or use a 32‑bit Windows environment. Quick VM checklist:

  • create a VM with a 32‑bit Windows guest (XP/98 as required),
  • install the guest OS,
  • attach the FoxPro install media and install inside the VM,
  • use shared folders to move source/data between host and guest.

Microsoft documentation and community answers discuss the 16‑bit/64‑bit limitations and the VM workaround. If your professor requires the original environment, ask them for the installation media or an approved VM image rather than looking for unlicensed downloads. (learn.microsoft.com)

If the instructor will accept a modern teaching option, learning core xBase syntax in Visual FoxPro (or the VFP help file above) will cover nearly all language concepts while avoiding hard-to-find installers.

Not easy to find I think. 2.6 is from 1994 iirc. Is there no way you could use a later version, like VFP7 or 9. They have extensive help files.

Our professor requires us to make a programme using this PL before proceeding to the later and complex PL...so i really need to learn foxpro 2.6 for windows...

Good luck. Anything I've found is for the visual variant. Sorry can't help further.

I trust you are not looking for an illegal, pirated copy of the software as that would be against DaniWeb rules and earn you a five point keep it legal infraction... Just saying.
