the way it happened, it froze up shutting down, so I held in the power button to turn it off. next day I turned it on, the monitor is going to sleep came on as usual, but nothing has happened after that, the screen remains black, it won't boot up and the activity light is solid orange on the front, is it gone forever???

.. What OS were you running? Did you get any error messages? What did you do to it be4 it crashed? Did you add anything new (as in hardware)? Seriously.. We need more information than what you provided..
