Google works very hard to make sure that actions on third-party sites do not harm your website. Some bad links can affect Google’s page or site. you can remove as many spammy or low-quality links from the web as possible.

LOL not that hard - negative SEO can be done and the more spammy links coming in - especially of repeated anchor text - can lower rank for that term
