As observed, the visible "Supplemental results" flag vanished from Google around mid‑2007. As and noted, that was primarily a user‑interface change: Google stopped labeling pages as "Supplemental" in SERPs. This did not automatically mean every supplemental page was reindexed into the main index — it simply removed the public tag that identified those pages.

If any pages from a site truly disappeared from Google's index (not just the label), treat it as an indexing problem and diagnose it rather than assuming a mass reindex. Practical checks that work now and are still valid years later:

  • Use Google Search Console -> URL Inspection on representative URLs to see current index status and crawl diagnostics.
  • Check Index Coverage and Manual Actions reports for messages, removed URLs, or sitewide issues.
  • Verify robots.txt, meta robots/X‑Robots‑Tag, and canonical headers so nothing is unintentionally blocked or canonicalized away.
  • Look for server errors and redirects (4xx/5xx/redirect loops) in server logs and in Search Console crawls.
  • Confirm sitemap submission and make sure important pages are included and linked internally (crawl path matters).
  • If pages are thin or duplicate, improve unique content, titles and meta descriptions, then request indexing.

A quick note: site: query counts are approximate and not authoritative; rely on Search Console and URL Inspection for precise status. The label disappearing was a UI change; follow the checklist above if the result set for your domain actually changed.

No, they just got rid of the label. Nothing has otherwise changed.

Yes Google removed the supplemental labels and disabled it...
