As most of you probably know by now, AdBrite shut down this last Friday. As I know that many of you are Webmasters and bloggers, I was wondering what alternative you were thinking of using now. For a long time, AdBrite was considered AdSense's biggest competitor; this is all going to change now. It will be very interesting to see what ad platform takes the spotlight. Any thoughts?

Thanks:)

As notes, AdBrite’s shutdown (announced for February 1, 2013) leaves many publishers with an immediate gap. First priorities are practical: remove or disable any dead AdBrite tags to avoid console errors and layout breakage, replace those slots with a simple HTML placeholder or an ad-server fallback so pages don’t render huge empty areas, and confirm final payment/status in the old AdBrite account. A brief inventory of current site metrics (monthly pageviews, top geos, mobile vs desktop, and highest-performing pages) makes the next steps much faster.

When selecting replacements, match the network type to the site profile rather than chasing a single “best” network. Useful categories to consider:

  • Contextual/text networks for content-heavy sites with broad traffic.
  • Display/exchange demand for high-volume or premium inventory.
  • Native and sponsored-content networks for editorial-style sites.
  • Affiliate programs for product-focused pages.
Also plan for a primary network plus one or two fallback partners to improve fill rate and stability.

Implementation and testing: use an ad server or tag manager to rotate networks and measure true fill rate, eCPM, and RPM. Run controlled A/B tests (different placements, sizes, or providers) for at least 30 days before making permanent changes. Track latency and mobile behavior—slow third-party tags kill user experience and long-term revenue more than a short-term CPM boost helps.

A final caution: don’t overload pages with too many ad systems at once; diversify revenue streams (direct-sold units, affiliates, sponsored posts, memberships) over time. The closure is disruptive, but it’s also an opportunity to rebuild with better measurement and redundancy. ’s surprise is common—this thread is a good place to collect replacement experiences and measured results for others switching away from AdBrite.

I did not know that. Thanks for sharing!
