Hi guys,

I have a website which generates about 90,000 hits a month and 5000 visits per month.

I have had an advertising enquiry in asking for the following

1) on your homepage only
2) your content pages
3) banner + text on homepage
4) banner + text on content pages

How much should I charge? Or better yet are there guidelines available for this sort of thing?

A compact, practical framework for pricing display inventory that responds to the points raised by and the follow-ups from , , and .

Price by measurable inventory and by advertiser objective. Convert monthly ad inventory into impressions (not "hits"), decide whether the buy is brand (flat monthly) or performance (CPM/CPC/CPA), then justify any placement premium (homepage vs content pages) with evidence: higher viewability, guaranteed position, or exclusivity. Because noted analytics differences, provide the advertiser with the metrics used and a one-line methodology (GA sessions/pageviews plus server-log reconciliation) so there is no confusion.

Use simple transparent math and clear multipliers. Start with:

  • baseline price = (monthly_impressions / 1000) * CPM
  • apply multipliers for placement, size, exclusivity, and targeting
Keep multipliers defensible (e.g., modest premium for homepage, larger for exclusives) and explain them in the rate card.

Prepare a negotiation pack every time:

  • verified metrics (uniques, pageviews, top countries, device split)
  • screenshot of exact placement and ad sizes
  • creative specs and allowed third-party tags
  • reporting cadence and sample report
  • minimum run length, cancellation terms, makegood/refund policy, and fraud protections
For smaller sites (as implied) prefer performance-based or sponsorship deals; for direct advertisers (as might want) highlight audience relevance and conversion examples rather than raw impressions.

Simple formula example:

price = (monthly_impressions / 1000) * base_CPM
price *= placement_multiplier # homepage > content
if exclusive: price *= exclusivity_multiplier

Transparent math, a short test period, and clear reporting will win higher rates more often than an arbitrary flat number.

it depends on the website content and the origin of your traffic. i am looking to advertise with banners in some websites so you can PM me your website, i will take a look and if its related to what i am going to promote we can make a deal, i can pay you and you can put my banner over there :)

We are and have been thinking of monetizing using banner ads on our website. We get completely different statistics in Google analytics and Awstats.

Which one should be used as a true measure of statistics for marketing purposes.
