I am rather fond of frames – a static navigation bar suits me fine. I wanted to put a frame on my homepage but not if it meant problems for browsers, etc.

My solution was a combination – a standard frameless page but with an optional link to a frame. The link reads: Frame version – if you prefer

The back button is used to return from the frame to the frameless mode.

It seems to work ok but perhaps there are inherent problems. Any thoughts?

Just my thoughts but, if you can build your site just fine without frames why add the hassle of frames? With the discovery and wide use of Ajax and other frameworks you can accomplish everything that you would use a frame for with less effort.
