A concise expert note for (and to follow up on ’s question): if the phone won't accept Tata or Reliance SIMs this is usually not a user “settings” problem but one of two things — either the handset is locked to the original operator, or the new operator uses a different radio technology that the phone doesn’t support. The troubleshooting and next steps below will quickly show which it is and what to do.
Quick checks you can do now
- Try a different operator’s SIM (Tata or Reliance). If the phone shows the network name and can place/receive calls, it isn’t locked. If it asks for a “network” or “SIM” unlock code or reports “invalid SIM,” it’s locked.
- Get the IMEI (look on the sticker under the battery or dial
*#06#). Keep that number handy. - Verify network type: check the label/manual under the battery for supported bands/technology (GSM/CDMA). If the new provider is CDMA-only and the phone is GSM-only, it will never work even if unlocked.
Practical options
- Ask MTNL (the original carrier) to unlock the phone — provide the IMEI and request the network-unlock code; many carriers will do this for free or a small fee.
- Take the phone to an authorized Nokia service center; they can confirm lock status and perform an official unlock.
- If you use a local repair shop or an online unlock service, choose a reputable seller, get a receipt, and avoid guessing unlock codes (repeated wrong attempts can escalate the lock and force service-center intervention).
After it’s unlocked
- Manual network selection will then allow you to pick Tata or Reliance. You may also need the new operator’s APN/GPRS settings if data/MMS is required.
- Back up contacts (copy to SIM or PC) before any service work.
This approach separates “menu settings” from carrier/provider or hardware compatibility issues and will save time and money compared with paying market touts without proof of what’s actually wrong.

Dear what type of setting you required, is it network manually selection setting etc or something else?
