HI guyz,
I have a laptop which cannot boot from the CD drive. I cant change the boot sequence because I mispalced the setup configuration password.
I cant actually do any configuration in the setup screen since its all disabled by the password.
I have tried several CMOS masterpasswords all in vain.
What do I do to access setup configuration?
Specs:
DELL INSPIRON 8200 P4
PHOENIX BIOS
WINDOWS XP SP2
Thanks in advance.

and you are not able to select the boot menu when the pc is booting up, pressing F12 or some other key when the bios is on the screen,,,,,,,, go to the dell web site if that does not work

Contact Dell. With proof of ownership, they should have a master password you can use.

You can also try removing the CMOS battery (can be difficult in a notebook). That may or may not work depending on where password is stored. Many, if not most, newer notebooks store passwords in flash memory rather than CMOS.
