I have two R50 Thinkpads, one a victim of BSOD. It will not read the HD and the DIMM chips are good. I swapped the HD from the victim to the good laptop and it reads it. Any suggestions on how I can reset the BIOS in the victim, assuming that's the problem?

At what point does it BSOD? If the drive works in the other system it's probably a matter of defective hardware.

Tell us where in the process it BSODs, whether or not you can boot in safe mode, ect,...

The BSOD left it unbootable. Can't read the HD at all when I turn the laptop on.

Bad sata controller on the mobo perhaps?
