I am trying to upgrade my 80GB hard drive in my Dell Inspiron 710M to a 320Gb drive. I used Acronis to clone my old drive to my new drive, but when i install the new drive, it cannot find the drive. I tried different setting when I do the cloning, but I get the same result. I tried to clone exactly one to the other. I tried using the proportional settings for the partitions and I tried to size the partitions exactly as the old drive but no joy. I understand that there may be a 120 GB or 137 Gb limit, but that there is a work-around. I have read something about transfering the master boot record, but have not figured out how to do that.
I someone has conqured this problem, please let me know how I can do the same.
