I have two cd/DVD drives, both have power and both draws operate (close/sshut) My computer recognises both of them as E and F drives but will not acknowledge any loaded disc, constantly asking to 'Pleas insert a disc into drive 'x' '
All helpful suggestions would be appreciated.

Try disconnecting one and see if you can get to just one drive. IF they are on the same cable check and see if they are both set to master or both set to slave. Should be one master and one slave, both set to cable select or one at the end of the cable set to master and other set to slave or cable select.
