Hi all my freind brough his dell desk top to me to have a look at because it would not boot up just had warning system battery low have changed the battery with a brand new one but now the pc will not power up the light is on the mobo ??? i have unpluged all cables and ram and then re built but still get the same i am hoping th cpu is ok any help please

Please strip your machine to Barebone, Motherboard and Processor only with PSU.

No Ram, No VGA, No HDD, No USB, No PCI, etc.

You want to hear the POST beep. 4~5 consecutive beeps.

Now shutdown and add the RAM and Boot, you want to hear 1 single beep. This tells you your machine is OK.

Now shutdown and add your peripherals one by one. listening for the Beep when you don't hear the beep you found your problem.
