@bmck I'd avoid such old posts. I might think you have a 9 year old laptop which my advice is to recycle responsibly.

try tapping your monitor or try put the monitor on your lap then move the monitor up and down.

fixed my by swapping the ram sticks and take the batter out and only use power supply

I tried holding button dwn for 30 to 60 seconds went to a blue screen then froze ad turned off now nothing is working

I have an Acer Aspire 5517. When power up if has a black screen and the fan will not come on. Any idea what would cause this issue.
