u didn't tell what kind of modem. dialup modem or broad band modem?

Yeah actually what you are going to ask? Configure a modem ok which one you go to configure a modem? say clearly!You say examples like the setup of a router for home computer networks cable, be sure to power cycle. this one or another one!
