My desktop computer had 128BM PC133 RAM. I decided to upgrade ram to get more capacity. I bought 2 memory sticks of type PC133 and 512MB each. I installed them, but the system reports only 511MB. ( I would expect the total memory to be 512+512+128=1452MB or 1.5GB). Why am I getting just 511MB. The OS is Windows Server 2003. What should I do.

You may have exceeded the capacity of the slots that you installed the 512MB modules in. A lot of motherboards that ran on PC100 and PC133 had a maximum capacity of 256 in each slot.

What is the motherboard?

yeah I had a similar problem.......i had 3 128 mb RAM PC133 so i bought a 256mb and it only reports 384mb??? why i dont know, but i SUDDEST GOING TO WWW.CORSAIRMEMORY.COM they have a online "checker" you can use to see what our motherboard is compatible with :)
