working

your keyboard's driver chip might have fried, or you have to dissasemble the keyboard and clean it. Use a clean. dry, lint-free cloth to clean the keyboard membrane, and use a *quality* pencil-eraser to gently clena the contact surfaces.
In the meantime, you can trigger <space> by holding the "alt" key and typing "32" on the numpad (have num-lock on). This is the real key combination that is automatically cued when you press the spacebar, and is exactly equivalent to that key.
