Hi everyone,
I have just reformated my computer. Win xp pro.
I can't use the scroll on either mouse, usb or standard port mouse only on the internet.
They scroll fine in my work and text documents, but when I use the scroll on the internet, weather it is ebay or my home screen, it freezes and or shuts off the moniter.
I have tinkered with many computers but never heard of anything like this.
Any ideas.

Try testing another mouse. Also make sure the mouse drivers specifically for that particular mouse and OS are correctly loaded. Additionally when you say you loaded a "fresh copy" of XP you may need to make sure very specific motherboard-chipset and video cards drivers are properly installed (the latest for your model).

Is this a USB or a PS/2 connecting mouse?
If it is USB check for the latest drivers.
