Hi all, After reading many of the postings (esp some that sounded similar to my problem) I figured it was time to seek some help, since nothing I tried works. I've had the same bridge.dll probs like others. I get the same error message at boot:

"RUNDLL: Error loading C:\windows\system 32\bridge.dll. The specified module could not be found."

Then, after a while, my system locks up. I'm unable to diagnose the problem, but have run Adaware, HJT, Spybot S&D, and CWshredder a number of times with no success. I've tried to run virus scans (NAV 2004 locally and online virus scans), but the system locks up before the process can complete -- even in SAFE mode. I hope someone can help. Here's my HJT log:

Close all (browser) windows & rescan with hijackthis. When the scan is finished place a check in the box to the left of the following entries & click 'fix checked' :

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [RunDLL] rundll32.exe "C:\WINDOWS\System32\bridge.dll",Load
O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [ODHLTX] C:\WINDOWS\XTPOK.exe

Reboot into safe mode following the instructions here & navigate to & delete the following if found:

C:\WINDOWS\XTPOK.exe<<<<

Reboot normally.

Thanks for the help, crunchie! I've followed your advice and am going to give my virusscan a chance to run now. BTW, have you ever heard of XTPOK.exe? I did a search on it and came up empty...

I came up with zero also, that is why I recommend it's removal.

Thanks for the help crunchie. I appreciate it. I was able to remove all the items you said and now am bridge-free. I noted that I am also dealing with a virus (I believe) that prevents me from running a complete virus scan without locking up my system. Is this the proper forum to present this or should I post elsewhere?

Thanks!

crunchie, I was unable to get an online scan at TrendMicro. I got the following message: "Unable to run HouseCall. Because this website is not authorized to host HouseCall." I did, however manage to start Panda's ActiveScan. It locks up everytime (> 6 times). I even uninstalled a couple apps whose dirs were consistently being scanned when the lockup occurred (C:\j2sdk, C:\Program Files\j2re). After I did that and tried again, it still locked up, but first found and "disinfected" three viruses: Tri/Briss.A (C:\Windows\infamous.exe, Trojan Horse.LC (C:\Windows\msssocks.exe, and Tri/Krepper.A (C:\Windows\precontrol.exe. I only know what they were because I stopped the scan before my system could lock up on me. After shutting down and rebooting, I tried to run it again but it still locked up... To sum up: some progress, but still crippled. Still lookin' for help.

Thx!

You could if you wish download a trial version of NOD32 anti virus. It is arguably the leading AV out at the moment. You can get it here: http://www.nod32.com/download/download.htm

Let us know how you get on.

I'm on it. I'll get back to you when I find something out.

Tks.
