I am not an advanced user, but I changed something somewhere and can not see anything after log-in screen for hardy heron. Screen goes blue after enter of password. I did not create a sudo password. can anyone help with this?

(or <F6>) you should get a shell login prompt. Linux runs multiple login screens. from there you can login as your user.

It is after log-in that the screen turns blue with no response visible

Can you ssh to the system and login to a command line?

Can you physically get to the system where you can edit the system before it starts (grub you hit "e" when the splash screen id up as it starts to boot. I can give you a series of commands that will boot to a shell as root.
