I have been using knoppix for data recovery and forensics work for about 6 months (on and off ). I want to install it onto a P3 machine i have. What i want to know is how easy it is to install stuff like my Broadband modem and get the net running on it? I have a fairly good knowledge of unix and am not scared of getting down and dirty with it. But before i make this leap i want to know what compatability is like! hope this makes sense.

You probably want to check out PPPoE resources, available at

There's lots of stuff out there-- are you using a USB modem? You can also try Googling the name of that modem at Google For Linux.

Thanks for replying,

Yes its a USB modem. Will take a look at your suggestions and hopefully get it all up and running.
