I want to know why this product i.e.,WINDOWS XP PROFESSIONAL SP2 had no chance to download Internet Explorer 7 and Windows Media Player 11. If there is any chance please suggest me. In this edition there is no automatic updates are available from the microsoft what should i do for this. During installation it is strange, that it never asked the license key.
But there is no virus effect, but the download gets freezed. Hope it would help you to solve my probs.
Thank you.

Short, practical checklist and fixes to follow for ’s situation (XP SP2: updates/downloads freezing; installer didn’t ask for a key). and were on the right track — activation/validation and the Windows Update components are the usual causes, so start with diagnosis and then try the repairs below.

Check activation first. Open My Computer → Properties and look for “Windows is activated.” If you don’t see that, launch the Product Activation wizard with the command %SYSTEMROOT%\system32\oobe\msoobe.exe /a (Run box). If the wizard won’t run or activation fails, the Product Activation documentation explains the usual paths (online/telephone) and what the 30‑day grace period means. (support.microsoft.com)

If activation looks OK, reset the Windows Update engine (corrupt update data often makes downloads hang). From a command prompt run these (stop services first, rename the store, restart services):

net stop bits
net stop wuauserv
net stop cryptsvc

ren C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution SoftwareDistribution.old
ren C:\Windows\System32\catroot2 catroot2.old

net start bits
net start wuauserv
net start cryptsvc

After that, try Windows Update again. Microsoft’s troubleshooting steps for resetting the update components cover this approach. (learn.microsoft.com)

Use the Microsoft Genuine/validation diagnostic to see whether WGA/validation is blocking non‑critical downloads — the diagnostic shows whether your copy is OEM, retail, volume, or flagged, which helps decide next steps. If validation fails, you can either fix the license/activation or download installers on another PC and move them by USB (offline installer) to avoid the ActiveX/validation step. (learn.microsoft.com)

Finally: Windows XP is end‑of‑support and no longer receives routine security or many download services from Microsoft (support ended April 8, 2014). If this machine must stay online, consider upgrading or isolating it from the internet after you resolve the immediate install/activation issues. (learn.microsoft.com)

Notes: check firewall/proxy settings and try a different browser or safe mode with networking if downloads still freeze; back up data before doing registry or repair installs.

Because you didn't have to didn't have to put in a license and Microsoft update isn't working you may have a pirated copy of windows. You can go to the Microsoft website and search for it and download it manually from and media player 11 is

Hope that helps
If not just post more info

Windows Updates will not run if the Genuine Advantage tool cannot determine that you are running a non-pirated copy of Windows.

If you purchased your copy from a retail store, it is possible they are selling pirated copies of Windows.
