hi!
I am using windows 2003 standard edition, the RAM on the server is 4gb, there is a database on the server which is having 1.7 gb memory configured. The page file usage is around 3 gb, there are no other applications running on the server, what can be the reason for such high usage of page file.

What database are you running on your 2003 server? I have had poorly constructed/written databases do some serious havoc on my 2003 servers and my page file usage has been know to go to hell and back because of badly of them. You might want to go in a try adjusting your page file numbers.
