Given a bigger file, is there any free program that may split a music file down so that I can break it onto 2 seperate CDs?
Thanks

A few practical points to add to the suggestions from and .
Decide first whether you want two standard audio CDs (CDDA) or two data CDs containing MP3 files. Standard audio CDs are limited by playing time (roughly 74–80 minutes per disc) and require CDDA-format audio (WAV/PCM) to play in legacy CD players. Data CDs hold about 700 MB and can store MP3 files directly, but they only play in MP3-capable players.
If the source is an MP3 and you want clean cuts without quality loss, use a frame-aware, lossless splitter such as MP3DirectCut or mp3splt. These let you split by time or by silence (useful for live or continuous recordings) without re-encoding. For visual editing and manual label-based splitting, Audacity is excellent: use silence detection or create labels, then Export Multiple to produce separate files. After splitting, either convert pieces to WAV (44.1 kHz, 16-bit) for burning as audio CDs, or burn the MP3s as data discs if the player supports them.
Quick tips: aim to keep each audio-CD side under the 80-minute mark; if splitting by filesize for data CDs, target 700 MB per disc. Preserve ID3 tags when possible (many splitters carry tags forward). If the track boundaries must be precise (no gaps), prefer lossless splitters rather than re-encoding in an editor. For tools and downloads, see mp3splt (GUI/CLI) and Audacity for editing, and MP3DirectCut for fast frame-accurate MP3 cuts.
