My dad has been having some issues installing winxp and having it work correctly. His motherboard is a p4p800 asus and when his ide drive went kaput he switched to a SATA. Ever since then its been reinstall after reinstall. Some things ive learned through research id like to get verified. First, is it necessary to install scsi/sata drivers by hitting F6 during win xp install process? Or will Winxp do this automatically? Second, can his ICH files be installed AFTER Winxp install. Do any of these look like they could be the cause of his USB 2.0 not working and after an install of WINXP, his hard drive showing 100% defrag already? He is also replacing his SATA cable as it was loose and from Asus and ive read where that could be a problem as well.
