PC is running very slooooooooooo

Hi...My PC is running extremely slow..
There are no viruses,no registry problems and i have also defragmented my windows drive..
Firefox or any other browser takes 15 sec to start
System startup takes 3 minutes
Games or any other programs take long time to start..
I have even tried that msconfig thing..
I am using
AMD Anthlon 64*2 Dual Core Processor 3600+,
2 GB RAM,
NVIDIA Geforce 8400gs,
McAfee 8.5 i updated version,

There is lot of free space in my computer...

Hello, rohit... perhaps you could give us some sort of starting point...
==download hijackthis: http://www.majorgeeks.com/download5554.html
-copy it to a new FOLDER placed either alongside your program files or on your desktop and then...
-in that folder start HijackThis by dclicking the .exe
-CLOSE ALL OTHER APPLICATIONS and any open windows including the explorer window containing HijackThis.
-click the Scan and Save a Logfile button. Post the log here.

Now why didn't you use that link I gave you? Your hijackthis is way out of date, and so does not show all information the newer version collects.
Anyway.... the problem lies here :

You have SP3. The Winlogon key for SP3 is supposed to start dimsntfy.dll [a vital part] of the logon process, and that file is missing. Your Winlogon key is also set to start to start WgaLogon.dll, and it should not be so [that M$ check of your genuine? software is gone from SP3].
So search for a copy of dimsntfy.dll in your sys - it should be in ServicePackFiles or SoftwareDistribution and copy it into system32.
Next you might delete that Winlogon Notify: WgaLogon - C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\WgaLogon.dll registry entry by placing a checkmark against...
O20 - Winlogon Notify: WgaLogon - C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\WgaLogon.dll... and pressing Fix Checked.
I am sure about the first part, not so sure about the second... it won't do any harm if you leave that there. It aint in my SP3, either that registry entry OR the file, Wgalogon.dll.
Something is strange about your SP3 update....

I searched for the file dimsntfy.dll and it is present in system 32..
The O20 file is not there in the log..

Ah, so there is another difference. I really do not know how those O20 changes occurred between hijackthis versions. But anyway, your last log shows everything as fine, as it should be for SP3.
I cannot help further on the slow sys problem, except to suggest uninstalling [not just turning off] your AV and testing. Disconnect from the net while you do.

I used ccleaner and my browser is starting after 10 seconds(it used to start after 15 sec)

hi i'm new
AMD Anthlon 64*2 Dual Core Processor 3600+,seem to be a slow processor;
NVIDIA Geforce 8400gs, is also a graphic card,and can also slow down the system.
i also won't advise a change of hardware components just try increase the virtual memory to;
(3000m{min} and 4000mb{max})

Thanks for replying..
CCleaner that i installed worked well and my system speed and data transfer(copying and installing is back to normal speed)..
I think the change in speed(speeded up) may also be due to the fact that i changed my sata power cable and sata data cable..
But starting of a program(firefox,windows media player..) still takes upto 8-10 sec to start..Working is at normal speed..

How will i able to increase virtual memory?

Also buried in here is a cute lil tool by Bill James which monitors your page file usage, showing min and peak use during a session. You have 2GB of RAM, may I suggest you set a min size of 500MB, max of 1500MB for your Page File?

most often than not it is d cable that is the problem as it is in your case :)

Steps for increasing virtual memory:

go to My Computer properties,a dialog box will appear, if the Advanced tab is not already selected,then select it.....

ou should be able to see Performance somewhere in the dialog box,just beneath that is a Settings button,click on it....

now the Performance Options dialog box should come up....click on the Advanced tab...

now you should be able to see Virtual Memory at the bottom of the dialog box..
click the Change button beneath it.....doing so will show the Virtual Memory dialog box....here you can allot the virtual memory from each of the local drive partitions that you want......

for example,if you want to allot some vram from the C drive...

click on the c drive from the list and then beneath it,you will be able to see the options custom size,system managed size and no paging file.....

click on custom size and enter the minimum and maximum memory you want to allot,then click on set.....
then click on ok on all the dialog boxes.....the computer might ask to be restarted..
restart and the vram will be set.....

oops I didn't notice the above solution lol...anyways I hope it helped :)
