IE Browser closes shortly after opening

I've had this problem before, but my brother fixed it, and I can't figure it out. I just had my internet connection taken off and put back on, and now every time I open internet explorer, it opens for a few seconds, and then closes. I can only access the web through folders, and if so, I cannot open any new web browsers from links. I've disabled all of my pop-up blockers, but still the problem hasn't gone. Someone please help me.

I can offer a couple of suggestions, but I first need to know what operating system you're using.

Try these suggestions:

WinsockXPFix -- http://www.stevewolfonline.com/Downloads/DMR/Spyware%20Tools/WinsockXPFix/WinsockXPFix.exe

IEFix -- http://windowsxp.mvps.org/IEFIX.htm

Have you checked your firewall settings to see if anything there could be blocking some sites?

You can also try another browser to help determine if the problem is with IE or not. You can get Firefox from here:
http://www.mozilla.org/products/firefox/
