I have a venerable laptop running 98 SE. If I put a music CD in the drive it'll play and function like a real live CD drive. If I put a data CD (i.e., software package or help file etc.) it responds by advising that the drive is not ready. Device manager sez the device is working correctly. There are some CDs that get the response that there is no disk in the drive.
Suggestions anyone???
