I am trying to replace an ide harddrive in an Itronix GO-Book III Ix260.
After I finally figured out how to get it out of its "caddy", I found it was harnessed in.
Question 1 What are he little dots that are holding the strap to the drive? Solder?
Is it possible to replace this hd with another?
Would I need to solder the strap to the new HD?
Thanks for your help!

You should be able to replace the drive, and it is likely the spots are glue. I'd just use some super glue to affix the strap. Use an x-acto blade, or razor blade to detach the strap from the old drive, but carefully so as to not damage the strap. Remember, service techs have to do this to replace the drive for repair.
