I have a hotmail e-mail account and I cannot recieve from Yahoo. I set up a yahoo account and tried to send myself an email to my hotmail account and it did not work. I can send and recieve emails with my hotmail account. Does anyone know if/how you can receive from yahoo or do they just not allow it?

A short diagnostic checklist to isolate where delivery is failing and what to show support staff when asking for help. Several posters here (for example and ) report the same symptom and ’s suggestion that receiver-side blocking can be involved is a common, plausible cause. The steps below find whether the problem is with the Yahoo sender, Hotmail/Outlook’s filters, or an intermediate blocking list.

  1. Confirm the message was actually handed off by Yahoo. Ask the Yahoo sender to check their Sent folder and any bounce (non‑delivery) message. A bounce usually contains an SMTP status code (4xx = temporary, 5xx = permanent) and text that indicates why it was rejected — copy that for troubleshooting.
  2. Run cross‑tests. Have the Yahoo user send the same message to another account (Gmail or an ISP address). Have a different Yahoo account send to the Hotmail address. If only Yahoo→Hotmail fails, the problem is at the destination or with Yahoo’s outgoing IP reputation.
  3. On the Hotmail/Outlook side, check blocked/allowed lists and any server‑side filters (not just client rules). Also search every folder (including spam/junk and trash) and any “clutter” or archive folders.
  4. Collect headers when possible. Ask both sides to save the full message source or forward the bounce/header block. Look for the last “Received:” lines and any SMTP rejection text (for example “550” or “5.7.1” with a reason). Redact addresses before posting publicly. Those lines are what support teams need.
  5. If headers show Hotmail rejecting the message, open a support case with Microsoft and attach the headers and exact timestamps. If the Yahoo server is the problem, contact Yahoo with the same evidence. If headers show neither side rejecting, consider third‑party blacklist issues and ask both providers to investigate.

If help is needed interpreting headers, post them here with personal data redacted and include exact UTC timestamps of the test emails.

What !! can you send a email to your yahoo from your hotmail !!

Does anyone know if/how you can receive from yahoo or do they just not allow it?

If that were the case what would be the sence in yahoo having a email server !

yes, my email from hotmail to yahoo went through fine. I even put my yahoo email on my contact list so it would be 'safe' and my junk filter is on as low as it will go. Help someone!!!

I don't even understand. Please reword that posting.

I have a customer with the same problem. She has a Hotmail account that will not receive E-mail from anyone with a Yahoo account. So this is not unique. I checked her "Rules", she had no restrictions. If anyone knows the solution to this problem, I'd be more than grateful to hear what the solution would be.

This problem seems to crop uip every so often. I think it's hotmail. If it get's a bunch of spam from yahoo ip addresses it automatically blocks the ip's.
