my download prompt that lets you save open or cancell has dissapeared and when i click a download link it automatically opens the file. i have not checked the always do this box. any help appriciated

The solution that I have found is how you have each type of file configured in Windows Explorer.
Open Windows Explorer, and go to Tools | Folder Options. Select the “File Types tab. Scroll down to the specific file type, and once highlighted, select the “advanced button. Check the box “Confirm Open after Download.
These procedures will have to be repeated for all file types that you want to see the download prompt.
