When i sign onto Internet Explorer i am not able to click onto anything without getting the following error message:
Network error - - Unable to read URL from host G.MSN.COM: connection reset by peer.

I need to click onto whatever i choose anywhere between 2 and times before i finally get into something such as games !!
Pls advise what is wrong and what needs to be corrected

thank you
Bob

You might want to check your system for "hijackware". These are malicious programs that can get installed on your system simply from visiting certain websites, especially if you visit gaming and filesharing sites. The programs can seriously alter your browser's functionality, especially if you use IE.

Read through some of the posts in our Security forum for instructions on how to download and use Ad Aware and SpyBot. Those two (free) removal utilities can scan your system for Spyware, hijackware and adware and fix it for you.

Hi
Thanks for the response - i do already have both Ad Aware and Spybot installed plus i have AD Subtract installed

Bob

If so, did you get the latest updates for these programs?
or
have you been updating windows through windows update?

Yes alll updates are being done on a timely basis
Thanks

Oh!lets have a look with hijackthis.
Download 'Hijack This!'.HERE

Unzip (extract) it to a folder of its own.Like c:\HJT\hijackthis.exe , Then Doubleclick HijackThis.exe (in the new folder), and hit "Scan".
When the scan is finished, the "Scan" button will change into a "Save Log" button.
Press that, then Ctrl-A to Select All, and copy its contents here. for hijackthis,most of what it lists will be harmless or even essential, don't fix anything yet.

Oh!lets have a look with hijackthis.

AAAAAIIIIIIEEEE!!!! NOooooooo....!!!!!

:mrgreen:

I have scanned my computer with the latest adware,spybot,trojan hunter and norton antivirus and it is clean (I also checked for the latest updates).

I can start my homepage in netscape and have no problems surfing the web. If I start in www.msn.com from either IE or Netscape and click on any link or search the web I get redirected to g.msn.com and get this error;

Unable to read URL from host g.msn.com: Connection reset by peer.

postamble();

It may not be spyware-related at all, but why don't you run HijackThis and post the resulting log in a new thread in the security forum so that we can be sure. Crunchie and caperjack have posted instructions for using HJT in a number of threads in Security- read and follow those directions.

I'm having the SAME problem... Network error unable to read url from host g.msn.com: connection reset by peer

I have done the same things as the previous people, Adaware, etc. I have now done what you said, downloaded hijack this Here is my log. Would you check to see where my issues are? Also, after I've searched and clicked on one site, I go back and click on another site, but the original site keeps popping back up.

One last problem. After I have been searching usually for about 5-10 minutes, I get an x inside of a box where all pictures should have been, either that or more network error messages. If I cut my computer off and reboot, everything gets back to normal for the next 5-10 minutes, then I have to reboot again.

I have a feeling all of these problems are related... HELPPPPPPPPP!
