I am working on a friends laptop, (XP/SP2) setting things up, and installing various progs. and I come accross something I've never seen before. Several hours later, I still have no solution!
PROBLEM: When I dbl click a folder/File the "Search" option opens instead. *Note: If I rt. click instead, and choose "OPEN", It opens as it should... Totally Confused!
even i have heard this type of problem. (might b a virus, might)...
i'd like to know, what comes in bold font on right clicking the folders...
( like u'll find open, explore, search,cut,copy ...etc)

ok, it goes like this:
search... (with the dots!) is the only one that is in bold print.
next comes: open, browse with paintshop pro studio, explore, systweak file encryptor, sharing and security, tuneup shredder, and then the usuall stuff. Only the "search..." is in bold type. I see 100;s and 100's of postings on this same prob. All using XP/SP2. I have a laptop and a desk top with XP/SP2.... and Thank God I don't have ths prob. on any of them!

i think there's some changes done to the registry...
can u post the hijack log...
and also 1 more thing:
run REGEDIT
goto hkcr\folder
goto file export/save as some *.reg file ... open the file in notepad and post it...
